Phil Catcheside, Partner at acclaimed architectural practice, Hawkins\Brown, will present at the forthcoming Brick Works event on Thursday 19th April in Clerkenwell, London. The evening event, hosted by Hawkins\Brown, will provide in-depth, contemporary case studies on some of the most notable clay brick architecture in the UK’s built environment.
Phil has a passion for brick and its ability to give personality to buildings.
At Hawkins Brown Phil has worked on a variety of large and typically mixed use projects, including Burridge Gardens at Clapham Junction for Peabody, a hybrid school and residential project at Tiger Way in Hackney, several projects currently under construction in Hackney Wick and Fish Island, and recently a commercial and residential mixed use project at Swandon Way in Wandsworth Town.
Before Joining Hawkins Brown in 2010, Phil was a Director at Loop Architecture and had worked previously at Panter Hudpsith Architects and Richard Murphy Architects.
Phil's focus at the Brick Works event will be on recent development and Brick Award winner, Peabody's Burridge Gardens: the scheme, which will take place in three phases, is one of Peabody’s first projects following the publication of ‘21st Century Peabody’, an ambitious document which sets a benchmark for exemplar urban regeneration in the capital.
Phase 01, consisting of 154 new homes across social rent, shared ownership and private tenures, was completed in April 2016. This stellar architectural project demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, with interesting aesthetics, effective wayfinding and contextual reference.
