Jordan Perlman, Co-Director at London-based Newground Architects, will present at the forthcoming Brick Works event on Thursday 21st March in Camden Town, London.

The evening event, hosted at their premises, will provide in-depth, contemporary case studies on some of the most notable clay brick architecture in the UK’s built environment.

Jordan studied at the University of Cape Town and after graduating worked on a number of significant cultural and regeneration projects including The Robben Island Museum and Ferry Terminal as well as the rebuilding of District Six, a vibrant urban quarter, razed in the 1960s by the apartheid government.

Since moving to London, Jordan’s focus has been on large-scale housing and masterplanning work including the design and delivery of mixed-tenure housing at King’s Cross while working for PRP, as well as a number of mixed-use schemes since setting up Newground six years ago, with co-director Ziba Adrangi.

The emerging studio’s most recent works, Rehearsal Rooms in North Acton and Material Store in Hayes, were both shortlisted in the ‘Large Housing Development’ category at the Brick Awards 2018.

Rehearsal Rooms is one of the first projects purpose-designed for the Build-to-Rent sector to be completed in the capital. As part of an emerging neighbourhood centred around the North Acton underground station and public square, the project’s ambition was to create a community designed around the real needs of residents.

Newground’s aim was to demonstrate that a contemporary, contextual and enduring living environment can be achieved with a modest budget through considered design and specification.

To attend the Brick Works event and benefit from the professional insight of Jordan Perlman as well as key speakers Dan Burr, Nick Hacking and Tom Kyle from Sheppard Robson, and Paul Jolly, Associate Director of Dixon Jones, book your tickets today.
