Celebrating the clay brick buildings that have made a lasting impact over the past 50 years.
The Brick Development Association is delighted to reveal the shortlist for the Brick Awards 2026 Legacy Award, a special one-off category created to mark the landmark 50th anniversary of the Brick Awards.
For five decades, the Brick Awards have celebrated the very best in clay brick architecture and craftsmanship. The Legacy Award looks back across that history, recognising buildings that have gone beyond outstanding design to make an enduring contribution to their communities, surroundings and the wider built environment.
Unlike the traditional Brick Awards categories, the Legacy Award invited nominations for clay brick buildings completed at any point since the inception of the Awards. The category was created to celebrate projects that demonstrate the lasting physical and cultural impact of clay brick - whether through their iconic status, transformational influence, continued community value or ability to successfully adapt and evolve over time.

As the Brick Awards celebrates its golden anniversary, the Legacy Award also provides an opportunity to reflect on how buildings endure beyond the moment they are completed. While architectural styles, technologies and the needs of our towns and cities continue to change, well-designed clay brick buildings can remain relevant, valued and firmly rooted within their communities decades later.
The Legacy Award winner will be revealed at the 50th Brick Awards on Wednesday 4th November 2026 at the Royal Lancaster London, joining the winners from across this year's awards programme as the industry comes together to celebrate half a century of excellence in clay brick architecture.
