About the project
Persimmon’s mission is to build homes with quality our customers can rely on at a price they can afford. Operating under three brands; Persimmon, Charles Church and Westbury Homes, offers a differentiated proposition for customers, focusing on delivering high-quality homes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Building growth around five key strategic priorities; build quality and safety, reinforce trust, disciplined growth, industry-leading financial performance and supporting sustainable communities, Persimmon sold over 10,000 homes in 2024 and was also awarded the Home Builders Federation (HBF)’s 5-star homebuilder for the fourth consecutive year.
Persimmon has also secured supply and quality of key materials through the vertical integration of its four businesses; Space4 timber frames, Brickworks concrete bricks, Tileworks concrete roof tiles and FibreNest broadband service. For example, in 2024 Brickworks supplied c49m bricks for its housebuilding operations.
Persimmon’s unique business culture fosters pride and happiness among its employees, citing 274 mental health first aiders as a significant tool in improving employee wellbeing. They also support business growth and boost employee performance by continuing to improve and refine training offerings, including a new e-learning authoring tool and AI-driven video.
With safety at the heart of its operations, Persimmon reported 2.2 RIDDOR reportable incidents per 1,000 employees in 2024, down from 2.8 in the previous year. With an industry-leading approach to training, including a dedicated in-house resource, ensures employees, contractors and visitors can be safe on our sites and in manufacturing businesses.
Over the past five years, Persimmon’s apprenticeship programme has grown significantly, with more than 500 apprentices completing their training since 2019 and a completion rate at 80%, far exceeding the industry average of 52.4%. In addition, Persimmon apprentices have been recognised at national competitions, SkillBuild events, and as local college Apprentices of the Year.
Persimmon is committed to creating an inclusive environment where diversity is embraced is a priority .The gender split improved from 24% female employees in 2021 to 30% in 2024, and network groups for female and LGBTQ+ employees plus a discussion group for ethnic minority colleagues have been established. In addition, their externally-assessed D&I audit result showed progress, moving from Bronze to Silver.
