Following a Life Cycle Assessment carried out by the BRE for Sustainable Products, the Brick Development Association’s (BDA) generic brick has been awarded an Environmental Product Declaration.

SUSTAINABILITY KPIs

The brick industry recognises the importance of addressing sustainability impacts over the entire lifecycle of the product, and is one of the first sectors to complete a BRE verified Environmental Product Declaration that meets the requirements of the new standard EN 15804: 2012 Sustainability of Construction Works. SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY PROGRESS REPORT 2012

In 2001 the UK brick industry published its Sustainability Strategy – Brick, Made for Generations – and at the same time established a suite of Key Performance Indicators to assess its progress in meeting the aspirations defined in its sustainability strategy.
