This award will be granted to the shortlisted project which receives the most votes from registered Architects and Architectural Students.

BDA CHAIRMAN’S AWARD

This year is the first year of the BDA Chairman’s Award. This award is outside the judging panel and is in recognition of a project which fulfils a need that the Chairman considers important.

BEST EDUCATION BUILDING

This award is for all types of buildings used in education, such as schools and universities in the public or private sector.

BEST CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARD

This award highlights the craft and skill of the bricklayer. Open to projects of all types, this award recognizes the highest standards of craftsmanship.

SPECIALIST BRICKWORK CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR

This category rewards the brickwork contractor for his contribution to the industry. Judges will look for achievement in training and investment and/or health and safety. Entrants need to explain (on a separate sheet) just why they feel they deserve this Award.

WORLDWIDE BRICK AWARD

This Award is open to any brick building built either inside or outside the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The Award will be judged from photographs and will consider all aspects of design and craftsmanship. There is no restriction on the manufacturer of the bricks. The winner of this category will not be eligible for the BDA Building of the Year (BDA Supreme Award).

BEST HOUSING DEVELOPMENT – 6 TO 25 UNITS

This award is for any type of new-build private or public sector accommodation, six to twenty-five units in size. Housing developments and flats are all eligible. Schemes that form part of a larger mixed-use project can also be entered.

SUPREME WINNER

This award is made to the project considered to be the best overall. Each of the category winners, with the exception of the Worldwide Brick Award and International winners, is automatically entered.
