Highcross provides the boundary to the services west commercial development where it meets the existing city centre.  The housing fulfils this role with great skill as it mediates between the scale and grain of the new development and the existing urban landscape.  The judges were impressed by the strong and confident design of the housing which clearly answered the demands of the brief providing good accommodation and a transition between the old and the new.
