BEST HOUSING DEVELOPMENT – 1 TO 5 UNITS

Long Farm

Long Farm

Location: Suffolk

Architect: Lucy Marston

Specialist Brickwork Contractor: Cottrell Brickwork Ltd

Brick: Ibstock Brick Ltd – Chailey Rustic Stock

Long Farm is a “beautiful house” with gorgeous detailing throughout. The judges said that the house is “traditional in a modern way” and commented that it fits into its environment very well. The form of the house is simple but the external impact is increased by the large, well proportioned windows, positioned to reflect the internal planning thus creating both interest and complexity to the external elevations. The architects have used the windows to give a presence and size which is larger than the house actually possesses. The house is long for its length and the width is cleverly increased with timber clad additions to the ground floor, containing entrance facilities.
